Cinematic

Dear Sheppey, do you ever dream that you’re in a film? I sometimes dream in a cinematic way with my dream’s ‘camera’ doing tracking shots, panning around, zooming in or out. It started when I was in my late teens and watching a lot of films – I guess the visual language of the films I was watching must have trickled into my subconscious. I have fewer of these dreams now, but I still dream cinematically sometimes. For me this has always been more about my mind’s eye using the language of film rather than placing me in a specific film’s narrative.

Not so for vetch-lesser-5830, who this week has dreamt they are in the narrative world of Harry Potter: Severus Snape has turned everything at their school ‘green and snaky’. This is a wonderful AI visualisation, making good use of images of Severus Snape, the Hogwarts school uniform and building. But even better is what the visualisation has done with our dreamer’s ‘green and snaky’ description. The palette of the dream is green – picked out in school uniforms, a blackboard and floating slimy blobs. And snakes are writhing on people’s shoulders, on the floor, everywhere!
